Shirley Chim is an experienced and knowledgeable family law attorney, whose practice focuses primarily on family law & divorce matters. She has worked with families and individuals all throughout Northern Virginia to help them understand the processes and complexities that are often presented in divorce, child custody, child support, spousal support and equitable distribution cases.

She is also a skilled negotiator and believes in empowering her clients in settlement and mediation, where appropriate. Shirley is flexible and creative in her approach to law and works side by side with her clients in some of the toughest times of their lives. There is no case too big or too small and invests in her cases accordingly. Whether it is a highly contested custody & divorce case, or a simple uncontested divorce, she will advocate for her client’s best interest and desired outcomes with all available resources and a professional and practical approach.

Shirley holds a bachelor’s in Psychology from American University where she graduated with distinction.  Her background allows her to not only understand multifaceted relationships within family dynamics, but also understand and advocates for parents with special needs children.

Shirley represents clients in divorce, child custody, visitation, child support, spousal support/alimony and equitable distribution matters in all Northern Virginia Counties including Fairfax, Loudoun County, Prince William County, Stafford and Fauquier County.

In her spare time, she enjoys traveling around the world. She has lived in Australia and Poland, and visited various countries including, Egypt, China, Costa Rica, Cayman Islands, Mexico, France, Fiji, Dominican Republic and Japan. She also enjoys time with her husband, two children, and two black lab rescues.
